Birth Story Sessions

What is it?

I offer a space for mothers to explore, process, and potentially transform how they feel about their birth experiences.

In an intimate and confidential setting, these sessions are not merely about recounting events; they are about weaving together different threads of your story into a tapestry of meaning and growth.

Healing your Birth Story is a Golden Opportunity

In Chinese medicine, pregnancy, birth and postpartum are seen as a golden opportunity for a woman to improve her physical and mental health and increase her vitality. Birth Story Medicine taps into this potential.

Birth Story Medicine was created by well known midwife, writer, artist, teacher, and  magician Pam England.

With more then 40 years of experience supporting women across all phases of their childbearing years, Pam developed a very efficient framework for mothers to return from their initiatory journey in birth land.

During our sessions I will guide you into exploring different perspectives. It’s about grieving and growing at the same time instead of being stuck in confusion with an incomplete rite of passage.

A story is a "storehouse." In this space, we invite you to look at what's stored in your heart—to dust off and polish the precious moments of one of life's most transformative experiences. You can reconnect to your story as a mythic tale of your own becoming.

Why is it important?

The Profound Impact of Childbirth

Childbirth is a transformative experience that goes far beyond the physical act.

During gestation, in the birth process, and in the postpartum period, women undergo not only physical changes but also emotional and spiritual transformations.

Mind Altered State of Birth and The Sensitivity of Mothers

During birth, a woman's senses heighten to an extraordinary degree. She becomes aware of everything in the room, even with her eyes closed.

This hypersensitivity can turn the smallest interaction into a lasting memory, sometimes etching itself deeply into her psyche. For some, these memories become difficult to process, repeating themselves in an endless loop.

When it comes to truly traumatic events or procedures, the impacts can ripple through all areas of a mother's life, affecting her very core.

The Consequences of Unresolved Birth Experiences:
An Unspoken Struggle

While exact figures are difficult to determine, statistics suggest that birth trauma affects a significant portion of new mothers in Canada, with estimates ranging from 23% to 45%, depending on how broadly it's defined.

An unintegrated birth experience can shake a woman's self-confidence to its foundations. It can erode her trust in life, strain her relationships, and diminish her capacity to be fully present for her family.

Heavy feelings of disappointment, guilt, shame, and hurt often lurk beneath the surface, manifesting as irrational anger or profound sadness.

As women pass through this initiatory portal, they need their community's support. Yet, they often struggle to ask for it, their feelings dismissed by a culture that insists that a living mother and baby are all that truly matter.

Testimonials

“I feel like things have actually shifted a lot around my birth story. I`m noticing that the "I`m weak" part of myself has pretty much disappeared and I`m feeling a lot more grounded in the memories of my birth story (and in the thought of giving birth again one day).”
